Wedding FAQs...

Below are a few questions you may want to ask us when organising your wedding at Dornoch Castle Hotel...

Who is the Minister at Dornoch Cathedral?
The Minister is the Reverend Susan Brown. It is best to contact her via email revsbrown@aol.com

Can we have a non religious service?
We would be happy to supply you with information regarding Celebrants.

We would prefer to have a registry office wedding:
No problem, our local registrar is Lesley Connor. We do not have a licence to hold registry marriages on our property but the Registry Office in only five minutes walk away. The office hours are 09.00 - 12.30 & 13.30 - 17.00 Monday to Friday and by appointment on Saturday. You can contact Lesley Connor directly by telephoning +44 (0) 1862 812000.

Do you offer any kind of accommodation discount?
We offer a discounted rate of 10% from our normal tariff for weddings guests on the night of the wedding and the night before. Should you wish to stay longer we will be happy to negotiate you the same rate, but this does exclude Bank Holidays, Christmas and New Year). Dornoch Castle Hotel has 23 en suite bedrooms and we would be delighted to send you a breakdown of the room types to help plan your guest accommodation or we can supply accommodation reservation slips for you to include with your invitation which will make it easier for your guests to book themselves.

Can you help us arrange the evening before?
We have found that a 'Rehearsal Dinner' for you and your guests the evening before the reception has proved to be very successful and great fun! This helps everyone to get to know each other informally and weather permitting we can offer a barbecue or a hot buffet. Children under 12 are half price and a special kiddie menu can be made available.

Can you help with arranging the reception?
Ros Thompson, our co-ordinator is at hand to help you organise every aspect of your big day.

We can provide a Toastmaster to guide your party through the Reception. Should you wish to perform this yourselves - just let us know.
Speeches can be before or after, the meal or omitted completely - it's your day.

We can supply menus and place cards free of charge.

For table flowers there is a charge of ?15.00 per table for a small posy with church candle in toning colours. Should you wish your own displays, please let us know.
We can recommend a good, local florist for you who can provide bouquets and buttonholes and flowers for the church and reception.

We can send you a list of local suppliers for cars, photography, the wedding cake, hairdresser, kilt and suit hire, music and beauty treatments who are all very helpful.

We can also help to sooth the nerves of the nervous groom or father of the bride by recommending a round of golf on the famous Royal Dornoch golf course. For bookings please see the Golf section.
